Dear Lior,
I live in a day where terrible mass killings still happen.
Just this week in America, over 50 people were gunned down because some pathetic deranged homophobe cannot stand seeing two men kiss. I hardly ever cry and yet when I read the news about how they were all just having a good time when a man decided to bring an assault rifle, I couldn't help it. I cried massively in the quiet because I felt so terrible about the cruelty we lay onto each other. I couldn't believe that we are still so harshly judged by our sexual orientation.
Most people ask me what I would do if I found out you were gay. Honestly, it really won't bother me at all. I do not care if you like women, or men, or even both. I do not care, I do not care, I do not care. I promise to give you all the understanding I can extend and all the love I can give. And if it means flying out to the country to have you and a man married, I will be there. I will definitely be there. In a really gorgeous backless gown.
I've realised long before that it isn't anyone's choice to be gay as much as it was mine to be a woman. So why should we punish people for being whatever they want to be? It's upsetting that we still need to argue about this with some but I hope that in your time, the LGBT community is so much more respected. I reckon that we keep forgetting that underneath all these sexual orientation bullshit, we're all just humans wanting love and craving happiness. And if people find that kind of happiness in loving someone who's gay or lesbian or transexual or queer, then who are we to judge them? Especially when there are some who are married to a robot or an inflatable mannequin doll. It's impossible.
I hope that we raise you good enough to respect all kinds of people regardless of their sex or their social status or their job. Because at the end of the day, respect is all that really matters. Being rich or beautiful won't mean much if you're a terrible person. Please radiate all the love you're given to people who were deprived of it.
Always know that I will love you regardless.
Mama
