Dear Lior,
You're turning five! My little man.
Your birthday is just around the corner. And as with every party, they always ask me what my wishes for you would be. Most of it are just the same as the previous year - good health, long life, happiness. But I realised, this time around, I'd be more concrete.
I wish you'll always go after the things you find yourself inclined with. Run after whatever that makes your heart skip. Love, books, music, work. Invest yourself in the arts. Invest yourself in something you truly, truly want. And most people will try to bring you down - they'll tell you that going after your interests are impractical. But listen to your mother: I will support you in whatever you want to do (so long as it isn't unhealthy).
I wish you the strength to go beyond your bad days. There will always be rainy moments, my love. But it's how you weather the storm that's important. Always remember you're brave and strong and there's nothing in this world you can't come through. We raised you with the strength to calm your hurricanes. But on days, everything seems a little tougher, you know who to call.
Lastly, I wish you happiness. Nothing in this world will ever make sense if you aren't happy. Right now, your happiness only means a vegetable-packed Sinigang, a new toy, making new friends, and chocolates. And as you grow older, it will become more and more complex. But I still hope you don't overlook the little simple things. Remember that there's always something to smile about.
Happiest birthday, my Lior Matthan.
My whole world moves only for you.
Always, Mama
